Product description:

Pro Dob 16" - stars and galaxies appear almost like in a photo

When the Whirlpool Galaxy looks as clear as a photo through the eyepiece, when you can see tiny individual details, when globular clusters are resolved to their very centres, or if you can even see colours in the Orion Nebula - then you know you'll never, ever give up your 16" Omegon Dobsonian telescope!

Delight in some fantastic observing with this telescope - see things you would never even suspect using a smaller telescope.

The advantages at a glance:

  • Precise focus: 2” Crayford focuser with 1.25" adapter and 1:10 gear reduction
  • Friction system: very smooth and precise movement
  • See details in galaxies: Collects 4 times more light than an 8” telescope
  • Needle bearing: smooth and precise movement on the azimuth, even when using just one finger
  • Primary mirror - for brighter images: 94% enhanced coatings
  • Faster cooling - faster observing: primary mirror fan

Deluxe friction system
The new friction system makes fine-tuning and object tracking even simpler. Instead of Teflon pads, the axles are mounted on the azimuth using needle bearings and are fitted to the vertical axis using a ball bearing system. This means that the telescope is easier to navigate and follows your movements seamlessly in every direction. The advantage for you is that you can keep the celestial objects within your field of vision even at high magnifications. A priceless advantage! Friction can be easily set using two aluminium rollers and adjusted to meet your requirements.

Easier to focus
A further advantage of the friction system is that the telescope's focus is easier to set. Even if you are using a heavy eyepiece, where the system can quickly become unbalanced and tilt to one side.

New carbon truss tube system
The design of the 16" Omegon Dobson has been improved! You can now benefit from the V-shaped carbon truss tube system like those found on professional telescopes. This makes the telescope sturdy and torsion-resistant. In addition to the cool look, you can also touch the carbon poles on cold nights without getting frostbite on your hands.

Assembly is easy
Although the 16" Omegon Dobson is a large telescope, you can easily assemble and disassemble it at your observation site. The telescope consists of the cage, the primary mirror tubes and the truss tubes. A new fastening system holds the truss tubes in position, you don't need any tools for this. You will be able to assemble it within minutes. A telescope that you can easily transport in your car despite its size.

18-point mirror cell
The primary mirror is mounted on an 18-point primary mirror cell with triangularly mounted and movable elements. The mirror is evenly supported and provides a perfect image in every position.

Main mirror with 94% reflection coating for brighter images
A Dobsonian telescope is an expert in deep sky observing. High contrast, a wealth of visible detail and a bright image go with an excellent telescope just like the stars belong in the night sky - and this is exactly what the parabolic main mirror provides you with. The 94% 'enhanced coating' on the mirror means you can enjoy ultra-bright images, and even lets you make out deep sky objects at the limits of perception.

Get started with your observing faster - main mirror fan
Just a quiet, unobtrusive hum, but with a big effect - the built-in 12V fan means 50% faster cool-down of your main mirror. This allows your telescope to reach optimum image quality more rapidly. So you do not have to wait so long any more.

2" Crayford focuser
Use 1.25" or the larger 2" eyepieces for stunning visual observing. The ball bearings allow you to smoothly focus your objects.

The Dobsonian advantage - simple and rapid assembly
What is the advantage of this design? A Dobsonian telescope consists of only two parts, which you can put together in no time. It is also much less expensive than a comparable sized telescope on an equatorial mount. Its main use is for enjoying visual observing. Discover the night sky - it is unbelievable what you can see using your own eyes.
